Oh this God has been life to my bones.

19 Nov

If you were hungry, would we give you food?
If you were thirsty, would we give you drink?
If you were a stranger, would we let you in?
What would be the song we’d sing to you with everything
Would it be an empty hallelujah to the King?
Turn down the music
Turn down the noise
Turn up your voice Oh God
Let us hear the sound
Of people broken willing to love
Give us your heart oh God
A new song rising up

If you were naked, would we give you clothes?
If you were an orphan, would we give our homes?
If you were in prison, would we visit you?
What would be the song we’d sing to you with everything
Would it be an empty hallelujah to the King?
Let it be our worship
Let it be our true religion
In this world but not of it
Holding on to our confession

Thankful.

7 Nov

Both C and I are going through such a busy season with jobs, added responsibilities, community involvement, and trying to squeeze in quality time for us.

I’ve caught myself doing lots of complaining lately. Tired, worn out, and overworked Lissette is no fun. Complaining and negativity. Boo. I don’t want any of it anymore. I’m trying very hard to take what Philippians states to heart. To be content in all circumstances.
To be content in the bad days.
In my stressful days.
In the wild days my little ones have sometimes.
In my sleepiness.
In my burnt out feelings.
In my negativity.

I’m trying my best to live in contentment and have a thankful heart.

I’m thankful for:
The most loving and supportive husband.
Great community.
A job that never bores me.
Great coworkers
Beautiful little ones that make me smile.
God’s daily reminders of grace.

This week I’m thankful for

Weekends.

6 Nov

Weekends are my favorite. Sleeping in, taking it slow, not following schedule, and adventuring my husband make weekends oh so sweet. I’ve been appreciating weekends even more since I started mentoring other teachers part time. Working on Saturdays is no bueno. So, When I’m not working on a Saturday, I burst with such excitement!!

A couple weekends ago we took off on a whim to Berkeley. I’m a hippie at heart, so I am so drawn to this city.
We browsed book stores, bought our first records (we have a record player thanks to a sweet friend!), walked through telegraph street, enjoyed late brunches, took naps, watched the Giants play in our hotel, and went on a fancy night on the town. Woooo!

The weekend ended with a stop at one of the original cupcake bakeries, Sprinkles. Being a fan of food network’s, Cupcake Wars, I was excited! Yay for vegan red velvet cupcakes!
